Overview

Safety engineers look for ways to prevent accidents in the workplace. They inspect buildings and machines for hazards and safety violations, investigate accidents and determine what caused them and educate workers on how to use safety equipment. Safety engineers are responsible for keeping people free from danger, risk, or injury in the workplace. They develop safety programs to minimize losses due to injuries and property damage. They try to eliminate unsafe practices and conditions in industrial plants, mines, and stores as well as on construction sites and throughout transportation systems. Safety engineers work for a wide variety of industrial and commercial companies.

Job Functions/ Responsibilities

• Auditing production, keeping on the lookout for any unsafe behavior or breaks in regulations.
• Assessing risk and possible safety hazards of all aspects of operations.
• Creating analytical reports of safety data.
• Inspecting production equipment and processes to make sure they are safe.

Qualification/Requirement

• Bachelor degree in Sciences,
• Occupational Safety or Engineering with formal training (certification / diploma) in Safety and Risk Management.
• Preferably a member of recognized international safety organization.4 – 6 years of safety and risk management experience in a project-based environment.
• Strong knowledge of implementing safety and environmental management systems programs, including occupational hygiene in a project based environment.
• Up-to-date working knowledge for applicable HSE laws, municipal legislations etc.
• Knowledge of recognized safety and environmental management system standards (e.g., OSHAD (Qudrat), NEBOSH, IOSH etc. audit standards (i.e., ISO 19011) and behavioral safety techniques; demonstrated HSE compliance auditing and management systems assessments experience.
