JOB DETAIL

Chemonics seeks senior technical specialists for the anticipated Cities and Infrastructure for Growth — West Africa regional program. CIG West Africa, a five-year, DFID (Department for International Development ) funded program designed to support inclusive economic growth and job creation, will initially cover Ghana and Sierra Leone and may expand to other countries in the region.

Objectives for CIG include improving urban development and productivity and boosting access to reliable, affordable power. Another objective involves increasing investment in infrastructure services, particularly where these services directly support growth; attract private and increase public financing in innovative ways; and drive better asset and financial management for sustainable investment in the ability of host governments to plan, finance, and manage its infrastructure assets and services.

We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

For the preliminary stages of recruitment, we are seeking senior technical specialists and subject matter specialists with substantive international experience for the following anticipated position:

Required Skills or Experience

  • Advanced degree in one of the following fields: urban planning, spatial planning, urban economic development, urban studies, social sciences, or other urban/relevant field
  • Extensive professional experience in urban development particularly in senior management, advisory services, or strategic positions
  • Knowledge of urban planning, urban economic development, municipal finance, city and regional planning to promote local economic development, urban investment strategies, and smart urban solutions in urban infrastructure provision
  • Expertise in one or more of the following CIG sectors: housing, slum upgrading, waste management, water management and sanitation, local economic development, institutional capacity building, private sector participation, and urban transport
  • Record of success in implementing institutional capacity building programs or activities
  • Established relationships with relevant Ghanaian government stakeholders preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • English fluency required
