INDUSTRY: MINING & MINING SUPPORT

Reports to: Plant Superintendent

Operational Locations:  Eastern Region and Western Region

What You Will Do

1. Conduct daily and routine checks on equipments (mainly excavators) to ensure they are in good condition.
2. Report daily on findings of routine checks and follow-up for redress.
3. Inspect engines and equipment parts and components, carry out servicing, conduct repairs to ensure proper performance of equipments.
4. Diagnose faults using computerized testing systems and manual approaches.
5. Ensure equipments are cleaned, lubricated and routinely serviced.
6. Perform major repair works when necessary.
7. Report damaged or faulty equipments to management.
8. Perform any other duties as may be required by your immediate supervisor or representative.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competences

• HND or Diploma / Degree or other equivalent certifications in Electrical Engineering or other related fields.
• Certification as a heavy-duty equipment mechanic or electrician or both, from a recognized certification agency. (e.g. Technical & Vocational Institutions like NVTI, Technical Universities, etc.)
• Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic in a corporate mechanical garage/workshop (5 – 10 years of work experience)
• Extensive knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines and mining equipments, experience in re-building or overhauling heavy-duty engines.

Other Requirements:

• Understanding of computer testing technologies
• Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy-duty equipment mechanic
• Ability to work after normal work hours if required.
• Good communication skills in English and other local languages
• Ability to write reports, use the email system and other social media channels of communication.
• Ability to work under reasonable pressure.
