Buck Press Ltd, a security printing company in Ofankor is looking for a Printing Machine Operator. Ideal candidate must be able to fully operate at least two Heidelberg Speed Master printing machines with little to no supervision.

Job Purpose

Responsible for accurately setting up, operating and servicing of printing machines for quality and higher productivity. Adhering to strict safety and quality requirement to achieve daily production needs.

Responsibilities/ Duties

• Monitor automated press operation systems (CPTronic and CPC) and respond to fault, error, or alert messages.
• Train apprentices.
• Detect and solve minor defects on the machine.
• Should be able to detect and solve minor defects on the machine.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Obtain or mix inks, fill ink fountains and adjust ink fountain flow rates.
• Secure printing plates to printing units and adjust tolerances.
• Start presses and pull proofs to check for ink coverage and density, alignment, and registration.
• Clean ink fountains, plates, or printing unit cylinders when press runs are completed.
• Collect and inspect random samples during print runs to identify any necessary adjustments.
• Adjust digital files to alter print elements, such as fonts, graphics, or color separations.
• Change press plates, blankets, or cylinders, as required.
• Examine job orders to determine quantities to be printed, stock specifications, colors, or special printing instructions.
• Feed paper through press cylinders; adjust feed according to paper size and tension controls.
• Verify that paper and ink meet the specifications for a given job.
• Direct or monitor work of Machine Apprentices.
• Maintain time and production records.
• Monitor inventory levels on a regular basis, ordering or requesting additional supplies, as necessary. Ensure that all records are up to date (Output, Quality checks, Handing over, Fault reporting etc.
• Responsible for the cleanliness of the machine and the surrounding areas.
• Must ensure and maintain discipline among the Machine Operators and Apprentices.
• Any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

NVTI or equivalent /Heidelberg Speed Master Machine operation experience

• A minimum of five years of experience in operation of  two or more printing machines
• Ability to work with little supervision
