Overview

Responsible for operating Programmable Logic Control (PLC) computers to control the start and stopping of the whole processing plant or sections of the plant; for controlling the direction or flow of the production process; for modifying parameters of various machines on the plant to achieve desired production results according to quality assurance plans; as well as for detecting and diagnosing faults in any section of the plant on the PLC computer.

What You Will Do

1. Operates the PLC computers to start or stop the plant or any section of the plant as instructed by superior.
2. Monitors and controls the direction or flow of the production process on the PLC screen.
3. Operates the PLC computers to modify parameters of various machines on the plant to achieve specific results according to quality assurance plans as instructed by superior.
4. Closely monitors the PLC screen to detect and diagnose faults in any section of the plant
5. Provides accurate information on faults detected to superior and maintenance team to
   undertake repair works.
6. Uses sample containers/rubber to pick samples and performs moisture analysis to determine
   the quality of the products.
7. Receives information/data from various sections of the plant for recording and filing.
8. Records the percentage of raw materials processed from the PLC screen.
9. Acts in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.
10. Assists in the weekly maintenance activities of the plant.
11. Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competences

• Must have a minimum of HND in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  qualification
• Female engineers with similar experience are preferred
• Must be computer literate and a hands-on understanding of PLC
• A minimum of 3 years post qualification hands-on relevant working experience in similar
  capacity
• Good knowledge in plant mechanical and electrical engineering.
• Good knowledge in programmable logic control.
• Ability to diagnose faults and identify the cause of problems
• Ability to work with little or no supervision
• Vigilant and intelligent, Fast reaction time and Team player.
