INDUSTRY: MINING & MINING SUPPORT

Reports to: Plant Superintendent

Operational Locations:  Eastern Region and Western Region

What You Will Do

1. Conduct periodic routine checks (at least once a week) on equipments to assess the structural integrity of the equipment in the area of welding.
2. Report to management, equipments requiring welding services and follow-up for redress.
3. Recommend to management, materials and tools required for welding and advice on keeping inventory of such materials.
4. Ensure inventory controls over materials and tools for welding.
5. Move around all equipment locations to provide welding services as and when needed.
6. Be prepared to work under reasonable pressure and at odd hours, including night shifts where welding services are needed.
7. Perform any other duties as may be required by your immediate supervisor or representative.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competences

• HND or Diploma / Degree or other equivalent certifications in Weldering or other related fields.
• Certification as a heavy-duty equipment mechanic or electrician or both, from a recognized certification agency. (e.g. Technical & Vocational Institutions like NVTI, Technical Universities, etc.)
• Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic in a corporate mechanical garage / workshop (5 – 10 years of work experience)
• Extensive knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines and mining equipments, experience in re-building or overhauling heavy-duty engines.

Other Requirements:

• Understanding of computer testing technologies
• Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy-duty equipment mechanic
• Ability to work after normal work hours if required.
• Good communication skills in English and other local languages
• Ability to write reports, use the email system and other social media channels of communication.
• Ability to work under reasonable pressure.
