A reputable mining company with operations in many countries is seeking for an IT and Communications Superintendent for a project for it’s new project in Bolgatanga enclave, northern Ghana.

Reporting directly to the HR & Administration Manager, the IT & Communications Superintendent provides strong leadership and direction to his/her team to safely deliver on all operational and financial business plans during the project execution phase. This position will be site-based, however, during the project phase, it is expected that significant time may be spent in Accra and Bolgatanga Office. The safety key performance indicators are: Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) is less than 2.5, Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) is less than 0.5, Working related fatalities is zero.

Job Description

The IT & Communications Superintendent will manage the Company’s software systems and hardware infrastructure (servers, storage devices, and network connections) to ensure high availability and reliability, and also provide security of the supported business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Manage and Lead IT department by recruiting and training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring performance in different geological locations.
• Should be familiar with MS SQL Server, windows clustering, domain controller setup, and company policy.
• Ensure the security of the server infrastructure by implementing industry best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Communication Manager are in charge of overseeing all internal and external communications for a company, ensuring its message is consistent and engaging.
• Also known as a Communications Director, their main duties include preparing detailed media reports, press releases, and marketing materials.

Job Qualification / Requirement

• Masters/Bachelor Degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent relevant work experience and/or hardware/software certification(s).
• 10+ years of experience in a Technical role with increasing responsibility.
• At least 5 years managing an IT department with multiple locations.
• Thorough understanding of Microsoft applications/infrastructure.
• Proven experience in implementing new systems and infrastructure
• Prior experience with SAP implementation would be advantageous
• Sound knowledge of mining safety regulations and best practices.
• A hands-on approach, able to work well under pressure and prioritize workload to meet project needs.
• Highly proficient in the English language.
