Head of Finance at A Reputable Company

A reputable Company wishes to announce a vacant position for HEAD OF FINANCE.

Job Description Summary:

The position is responsible for the overall financial management, business analysis, reporting and IFRS compliance, providing financial advice and information to stakeholders and developing and maintaining financial and investment strategies for the Company.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and maintain financial forecasts in consultation with leadership (including the annual budget and the medium-term business plan); and the financial implications for the operations.
  • Manage relationships with investors and support the executives in designing and implementing appropriate financing tools.
  • Design appropriate financial due diligence procedures for projects and perform financial assessment of these projects.
  • Establish efficient financial monitoring and reporting (including monitoring expenses and revenues, reviewing and upgrading existing procedures, ensuring production of appropriate financial reports for internal and external constituents).
  • Lead high quality accounting (including overseeing day to day accounting, managing the year-end audit process).
  • Prepare and report on the monthly financial performance of the business and any issues necessary for management’s attention; and for onward submission to the Board.
  • Prepare Monthly Budgetary Control Reports for the various departments or units within the company. Such reports should match budgeted revenue and cost targets against performance and ensure queries are answered by departmental heads and initialed.
  • Prepare monthly and weekly cash flow statements and advise management on the liquidity position of the business and key action steps to implement.
  • Maintain and develop sound and reliable banking relationship, procedures and arrangements.
  • Advise management on all tax matters relating to the company and ensure compliance.
  • Approve all vendors in terms of reliability, price structure and terms of payments
  • Supervise the production of monthly payroll for staff and ensure compliance with statutory demands on payroll.
  • Establish, manage and monitor staff performance, training and development.

Competencies
Education and Experience

  • An MBA (Finance option) with supplemental professional training in CA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA
  • Requires 8+ years’ experience in a managerial or similar position
  • Up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and taxation
  • Knowledge and use of financial instruments to gain the greatest risk/return on investments.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft suits and other financial

Skills/Personal Attributes

  • Numerical abilities are crucial
  • Sound knowledge of financial reporting, analysis and control techniques
  • Sound knowledge in the use of the financial software i.e. Pastel, Sage
  • Thorough experience in strategy formulation and execution
  • Knowledge of Ghanaian tax laws
  • Strong commercial experience
