Deputy Finance Officer Needed at Educational Institutions

Job Overview

The Council of the Agogo Presbyterian Women’s College of Education announces for the Academic Community and the General Public of vacancy for the following position: Deputy Finance Officer

Job Responsibilities / Functions

  • The Deputy Finance Officer shall assist the Finance Officer in the overall management and administration of the Office and functions,
  • Ensure all expenses are within assigned project budget.
  • Assist in budget preparation and management activities.
  • Oversee the preparation of all financial statements, invoices, proposals, etc as required.
  • Ensure account receivables and payables activities are performed accurately and timely.
  • Ensure that financial transactions are properly updated and recorded.
  • Manage the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, expense reports, etc.
  • Ensure data integrity in all financial reporting.
  • Update financial records with recent transactions and changes.
  • Perform finance analysis, reporting and management tasks.
  • Identify and resolve invoicing issues, accounting discrepancies and other financial related issues.
  • Review financial paperwork and procedures and make appropriate changes.
  • Develop financial policies to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Conduct periodic financial analysis to identify and resolve issues, gaps or variances.
  • Manage cash controls as well as maintain book keeping up-to-date.
  • Ensure maintenance of the general and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Track investments and maintain relevant cash reserves.

Qualification Required & Experience

  •  Applicants must hold a good first degree or comparable qualification plus a relevant professional qualification and a Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting
  • He/She must have served as Accountant or Deputy Internal Auditor in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution/organisation for at least 4 years.
  •  Be analytical, critical, result-oriented, innovative and visionary
  •  Possess hands-on ability to work independently
  •  Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills
  • Be a good team player
  •  Possess good IT skills and familiarity with accounting software
  •  Be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines,
