Climate Bonds Initiative is an investor-focused not-for-profit, promoting large-scale investment in the low-carbon economy, which carries out market analysis, policy research, market development; advises governments and regulators; and administers a global Climate Bonds Standard & Certification Scheme. Climate Bonds is developing criteria for Crop and Livestock Production, and Climate Bonds are seeking an experienced expert on Agricultural Development and Environmental Research emissions from the food system to advise on Emissions Intensity and Mitigation Targets that we aim to incorporate into the criteria.

What You Will Do

• To collect farm business account data and information in a range of formats (e.g. hard copy invoices, cheque books, bank statements, farm accounts packages)
• Produce a fully balanced electronic account of their business on an annual basis
• Interview farmers and gain additional information related to their business, and farming and land management activities, for example their business management practices, agri-environmental activities and water usage
• Undertake travel to and from farms and farm business offices in undertaking the range of tasks required to perform the role fully.
• Create, conduct, run and monitor experiments and research trials in a containerized trial facility
• Carry out plant physiology measurements of photosynthetic performance and plant growth
• Work alongside the Engineering and Software Tech Teams to integrate plant science with engineering
• Perform data analysis and interpret findings, prepare reports to support the companies scale up agenda, and share internally with senior management and where relevant, clients

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competences

• Study Agricultural, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Behavioral Science or related field
• Relevant research experience at an appropriate level in a multidisciplinary environment that includes collaboration across industry, government and research sectors, preferably with experience working with farmers

Experience and Skills
A strong candidate will also have other desirable competencies:

• Highly developed written and oral communication skills with an ability to present research findings to a variety of audiences and evidence of publication in high-quality journals.
• Experience in interview and survey design, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, applied behavioural economics, decision-making frameworks, and risk analysis or adoption
• Reasonable to work and gain an understanding of the inherent risks and challenges facing the global agricultural industry
