Account Officer

Overview

The Accounts Officer will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and supporting operational efficiency within an FMCG environment. The role involves handling accounting records, processing transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring adherence to statutory and tax compliance requirements. The officer will also collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to support smooth business processes.


What You’ll do:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and journals in line with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer accounts.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely collections and payments.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, statutory filings, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Prepare and submit VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE, and other statutory returns.
  • Assist in internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
  • Implement financial controls to minimize risks and ensure transparency.
  • Work closely with operations, inventory, and logistics teams to ensure accurate cost allocation.
  • Monitor inventory movements and support periodic stock counts/reconciliations.
  • Support pricing, cost analysis, and margin tracking for FMCG products.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (professional certification such as ACCA, ICA, or CIMA is an advantage).
  • 3–5 years’ experience in accounting/finance within FMCG manufacturing, trading, or distribution.
  • Strong knowledge of local tax laws, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, or ERP systems) and MS Excel.
  • Solid understanding of FMCG operations, inventory management, and supply chain finance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Must reside in Taifa or its immediate environs.
