Operations & Business Development Manager at A Reputable Firm

Overview

We’re looking for someone to serve as our operations and business development lead. We’re a small startup that runs an integrated directory and marketing suite. The right candidate will manage our operations and design and implement our business development strategy.

This right candidate will provide excellent, comprehensive operational and development support for the company. We are looking for someone who has a high degree of flexibility and organizational skill allowing them to operate effectively in a dynamic environment. The candidate needs a strong sense of initiative and the ability to own process and build a partnership. We are looking for a proactive individual who can bring order to an unstructured environment, take initiative, and create value. The right candidate should be entrepreneurial and be able to identify and seize new business opportunities. No task should be too big or too small, you must have a do it now and roll-up your sleeves attitude.

What You Will Do

Given the size of the company, you will be serving a dual role but will have an assistant to support your efforts.

Operations

  1. Provide inspired leadership for the organization.
  2. Make important policy, planning, and strategy decisions.
  3. Develop, implement and review operational policies and procedures.
  4. Assist HR with recruiting when necessary.
  5. Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
  6. Oversee budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing.
  7. Work with senior stakeholders.
  8. Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
  9. Work with the board of directors to determine values and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals.
  10. Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.
  11. Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations.
  12. Support worker communication with the management team.

Business Development

  1. Contacting potential clients to establish rapport and arrange meetings.
  2. Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives.
  3. Developing growth strategies and plans
  4. Writing business proposals
  5. Researching organizations and individuals to find new opportunities.
  6. Increasing the value of current customers while attracting new ones.
  7. Finding and developing new markets and improving sales.
  8. Identifying and mapping business strengths and customer needs
  9. Researching business opportunities and viable income streams
  10. Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events.
  11. Developing quotes and proposals for clients.
  12. Reporting on successes and areas needing improvements
  13. Developing goals for the development team and business growth and ensuring they are met.
  14. Training personnel and helping team members develop their skills.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competences

  • Degree in Business, Operations Management, Marketing or related field
  • Strong communication skills and IT fluency.
  • Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Experience budgeting and forecasting
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Leadership experience
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
  • Be able to bring structure to an unstructured environment
