- Science Education (with options in Chemistry, Physics and Biology)

- Chemistry (with options in Analytical, Organic, Inorganic, or Physical Chemistry)
- Biology related programme
2. DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND ICT
Areas of Specialisation:
- Mathematics Education or Mathematics related programme
- Computer Science related programme
- Information Technology Education or Information Technology related programme
- Information Literacy/Ethics
3. DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES
Areas of Specialisation:
- English Language and Literature in English

BACKGROUND OF CANDIDATES
The candidate for Principal Tutor shall:
- Serve as exemplar for students in all manner of good behavior and action.
- Challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking.
- Continually update knowledge and understanding in field of specialization.
- Extend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from research to teaching and appropriate external activities.
- Identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.
- Develop teaching materials, methods and approaches within the parameters established by the College and its affiliated body and deliver across a range of modules within a subject area.
- Apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.
- Supervise the work of students – including student projects, field trips, provide advice on study skills and help them with learning problems.
- Identify sources of funding and make grant applications to secure funds.
- Carry out independent research that culminates in scholarly publications. Act as a referee for scholarly papers and research grants.
- Make presentations at national and international conferences, as well as other similar events.
- Provide academic leadership to those working within your programme areas.
Remuneration
Salary and Conditions attached to the above positions are attractive and in accordance with the approved Harmonised Conditions of Service for Colleges of Education.
Required Skills or Experience
Applicants must:
- Have served as a Senior Tutor for a minimum of four (4) years in a College of Education or its comparable grade in other tertiary institution or similar institution/organization;
- Show evidence of outstanding performance in teaching and research in the candidate’s subject area, as well as, contribution to the intellectual and professional reputation of the College or similar institution/organization;
- Possess an MPhil or PhD with specialization in the particular area of study or a closely related academic area.
- Have teaching/research experience in a reputable tertiary institution or a comparable institution for a minimum of four (4) years.
- Have not less than five (5) publications in a referred journal.
- Applicants should have a commitment to the advancement of research and scholarship, a willingness to learn new approaches and techniques, and be available for student supervision.
