Job Summary

A Community Health Outreach Worker I is the entry level of work providing health and disease prevention information to medically underserved populations in the community and assisting them in adopting healthy behaviors. Employees in this classification do not supervise. Employees receive close supervision from a community health educator or other designated higher-level administrative official. The work requires travel to various locations, such as homes, religious organizations and community agencies. Provide counseling, support, and education during Medical Mobile Unit, satellite sites, community outreach, educational
presentations, outreach, provide backup support the Outreach and Enrollment Specialist.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Demonstrate understanding of WFHC policies and procedures.
  •  Observes all policies and procedures for use of time-keeping system, including attendance, tardiness, proper clocking
    procedure, overtime authorization, and that employee nametag is clearly visible.
  •  Observe rules and regulations for mandatory requirements including license, fire, disaster, CPR, and annual physical as
    established by policy.
  •  Consistently maintains appearance and dress standards that are appropriate, safe, and in accordance with WFHC
    standards and policy.
  • Attends WFHC meetings as required.
  • Provide data entry, as needed.
  • Work on special projects, as assigned.
  • Must be able to take direction from Director & Assistant Director of COE.
  •  Employee must be able to work independently and collaboratively with a team approach.
  •  Interacts with patients, physicians, staff, vendors, and visitors in ways that demonstrate caring and reflect the WFHC
    mission and philosophy.
  • Proficient in creating positive telephone communication by answering the telephone by the third ring, identifying self to
    others when speaking or answering the telephone, listening attentively, asking questions for clarification and offering or
    seeking assistance to others.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Successful completion of the peer educator training preferred.
  • Experience: A non-judgmental, empathetic, caring individual with the ability to listen well and to demonstrate
    confidentiality and respect for clients of all ethnic, religious and socio-economic groups. Must be open
    minded, flexible, responsible, engaging, and self motivated. Needs to be comfortable talking about sexual
    and reproductive health information. Must be very comfortable speaking in front of large audience
