Reproductive & Child Health Consultant at BAF

Job Summary:

One of the Foundation’s Health visions is to focus on Maternal healthcare delivery and it seeks to deliver to the community a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every mother and child’s potential within the family setting is fulfilled to the maximum. This role shall be played as part of the Foundation’s Health programme in order to promote reproductive health and contribute to strengthening the provision of the communities’ basic needs in this regard. The Foundation needs a principled and ethical person, who embodies targeted international norms and standards, and who will defend them with full conviction. A person capable of managing the resources entrusted to them and who will be committed to delivering excellence.

The focus shall be on the following transformative results:

  • To end preventable maternal death;
  • To end infant and child mortality;
  • To promote good family planning practices;
  • To promote the good nutrition of infants and nursing mothers;
  • To promote overall family health with particular focus on mother and child;
  • To provide sexual reproductive health services;
  • To develop and implement changes in health services for the community;
  • To work keenly on prevention rather than on just the treatment of diseases and illnesses;
  • To work on implementing educational tools and programmes that raise awareness about child health;

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop plans for the reproductive lives of the various individuals set to benefit from this initiative.
  • Guide and advice regarding medications needed and guidance on administration of these medication
  • Formulate and keep track with immunisation schedules and prompting beneficiaries in this regard
  • Advice, educate and provide guidance relating to maternal medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension etc.
  • Learn about the various individual family health histories and how these affect infant and maternal health
  • Offer general counselling with regards to depression, anxiety and other mental health related issues.
  • Aim at working to reduce the risk of pregnancy complications,
  • Educate on good health practices, diet and exercise etc…
  • Advice, guide, strategize, develop and implement actions in order to transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustainable

REMUNERATION

  • GhS 250,000.00 Gross Salary for the 2-year contract period.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must have an MSc in public health, or other related fields; Clinical degree (medicine, midwifery, nursing)
  • 5 years of increasingly responsible professional and managerial experiences in the field of humanitarian response, part of which should be in health or Child and reproductive health;
  • Prior experience in the UN and NGO environment will be an asset;
  • Experience in offering training and programme management;
  • Good training skills;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Proficiency in current office software applications.
  • Good communication skills in the Akan local dialect is an advantage
