Overview

A Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting in development of monthly lesson plans, implementing activities on a daily basis including evaluating the effectiveness of activities, helping to create and maintain a classroom culture of health and safety, both physical and emotional, maintaining regular. The duties of a preschool teacher’s assistant includes interacting with children, preparing snacks, teaching children about numbers, colors and shapes, helping them get dressed and changing their diapers when needed. They also evaluate students’ social development and physical well-being

Job Task/ Functions

• Getting the classroom ready for lessons.
• Listening to children read, reading to them or telling them stories.
• Helping children who need extra support to complete tasks.
• Helping teachers to plan learning activities and complete records.
• Supporting teachers in managing class behaviour.

Job Qualification/ Requirements

• High school diploma, associate’s or bachelor’s may be required for some positions
• Assistant teaching, or a related subject like elementary education.
• Complete an internship as a teacher’s assistant.
• Take any tests required in your state for teacher’s assistant licensure.
• Apply for your teacher’s assistant license.
