A reputable international firm is looking to add Legal and Human Resources Manager to its team. The Head of Legal is the head of the company’s legal department and is responsible for the legal affairs of the entire company. The role will include, but not limited to providing legal counsel to the board of directors, chairman of the board, Managing Director, Operations Manager and other senior management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain established departmental policies, procedures and objectives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by his direct superior

Legal Responsibilities:

  • Developing and leading corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company’s matters
  • Developing and leading internal audit and corporate compliance programs
  • Overseeing delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies and priorities
  • Maintaining proper corporate interactions with the relevant governmental bodies, legislature and the community.
  • Advising the Managing Director, Operations Manager and other managers on a variety of issues as may arise in during the execution of their duties
  • Participating in the formulation of general management policy as a member of the executive management team
  • As need may arise, managing a team of corporate counsel and other members of the legal department.

HR Responsibilities:

  • Develop and administer human resources plans and procedures that relate to company personnel
  • Plan, organize, and control the activities and actions of the HR department
  • Contribute to the development of HR department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Implement and revise a company’s compensation program
  • Create and revise job descriptions
  • Conduct annual salary surveys
  • Develop, analyze, and update the company’s salary budget
  • Develop, analyze, and update the company’s evaluation program
  • Develop, revise, and recommend personnel policies and procedures
  • Maintain and revise the company’s handbook on policies and procedures
  • Perform benefits administration
  • Maintain affirmative action programs
  • Oversee recruitment efforts for all personnel, including writing and placing job ads
  • Conduct new employee orientations and employee relations counseling
  • Oversee exit interviews
  • Maintain department records and reports
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings
  • Maintain company directory and other organizational charts
  • Recommend new policies, approaches, and procedures

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelors Law Degree from a recognised university, Postgraduate Bar Course Diploma from Ghana. A degree/ diploma in Human Resources is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar senior management role.
  • Fluent English and the local language both in written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
