The Governing Council of Takoradi Technical University announces for the information of the Academic Community and the General Public the executive search for qualified and enterprising persons for the position of: Director of Works & Physical Development

The Position / Function

• The Director of Works and Physical Development shall, under the Vice-Chancellor, be responsible for the overall development and maintenance of the physical environment of the University and the provision of essential services in an efficient and effective manner

The Director of Works and Physical Development shall among others

• Supervise all works and contracts to ensure that construction and renovation are in consonance with prevailing industry standards and specifications
• Oversee the management of construction contract with the view to ensuring compliance and due delivery of projects
• Advise on the procurement of consultancy services relating to the procurement of technical advice on construction on compliance with the relevant national laws and regulations
• Be responsible for management and maintenance of the building, roads, drains, parks and gardens of the University and their designs and drawings
• Advise the Vice Chancellor and the University council on matters of use land and development
• Provide architectural and engineering designs and bills of quantities of all university construction projects

Qualification Required & Experience

• Possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Built Environment or relevant area of study PLUS relevant professional qualification
• Have served as Deputy Director of Works and Physical Development in a University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organisation for at least 6 years
• Applicants must be computer literate

Terms of Appointments

• The terms and conditions of the appointment of the above positions shall be determined by the Governing Council of the University consistent with the Technical Universities, Act 2016 (Act 922) as amended and statutes of Takoradi Technical University
• The Salary and conditions of service attached to these positions are very attractive and comparable to those in analogous universities in Ghana.

Tenure of Office

• Candidates must be able to hold office for a minimum of 4 years on first appointment and may, on application, be re-appointed for a further term of up to 4 years only if that is not beyoung the statutory retirement age of 60 years
