Summary

The Director, Child safeguarding and Security will lead the implementation of Millennium Child Support Group (MCSG) child safety protocol across The Director, Child Safeguarding  and Security will be responsible for managing all agency systems and processes relating to the safety of children served by the Agency’s domestic programming, including training, reporting, investigation and case management. Additionally, the Director, Child safeguarding and security will coordinate and monitor all such systems and processes relating to the Agency’s implementation of global programming through Millennium Child Support Group (MCSG)

What You Will Do

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Impact

Training: Manage overall Agency framework for child safety training of staff, partners and other relevant contacts of the Agency. Refine and further develop existing content to build staff capacity. Deliver in-person training as appropriate, including investigations training as required. Present to staff on child safety requirements and processes as requested by General Counsel. (20%)

Reporting: Serve as national Agency focal point for accepting all Ghana child safety incident reports. Proactively manage reporting on serious incidents, providing reporting to General Counsel and Senior Management Team as required. Provide consolidated incident reporting metrics and trend analysis to the Senior Management Team on a quarterly basis and as otherwise requested by General Counsel. Serve as a resource to all staff to answer questions on reporting requirements and procedures. (20%)

Investigation & Case Management: Manage overall Agency framework for child safety incident investigations. Investigate (or coordinate with an external investigator for) serious incidents. Along with General Counsel, liaise with relevant federal/state/local child services agencies and law enforcement authorities as required. Update and manage Agency case management system for child safety incident reports and investigations. (20%)

Systems: Ensure all agency systems and processes relating to child safety are comprehensive and working effectively, including systems relating to domestic programming site visits, partner assessments, safe programming and safe non-programming events. Coordinate implementation of background checks by third-party processor for site visits by Millennium Child Support Group (MCSG) guests (non-staff). Keep updated on industry developments to ensure Agency systems are current and responsive to relevant risks. (20%)

Global Programming Oversight: Along with child safeguarding and security representatives from other members of the  (MCSG), coordinate with and oversee work of dedicated child safeguarding staff of MCSG regarding child safety processes and systems. Monitor and provide oversight for any child safety incident


Required Qualifications, Skills and Competences

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7-10 years experience focusing on child safety, preferably in a youth-serving organization
  • General case management experience
  • A high degree of professionalism demonstrated attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Approximately 10% – 15% of travel required

Preferred:

  • Experience in the investigation of the abuse and/or neglect of children
  • Professional experience with incident management software and/or databases
  • Experience working in an organization with international operations
