Creative Director Needed at Publicis West Africa

We are looking for a talented and motivated creative director to lead our company’s creative department. The successful candidate must possess excellent leadership qualities, with the ability to maximize the talents of their team.

As the creative director, you will work closely with the graphic design and marketing department to deliver engaging content that meets the expectations of our customers. You should be extremely creative, dedicated, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills . A multi-talented, culturally diverse agency based in Accra, Ghana, doing regional work in English, French and Portuguese for over 25 markets in Central West Africa. Our story is to reclaim Africa’s birth right as an inherently creative and expressive place through contagious ideas that transform business and industry.

A creative director is in charge of the creative department at advertising and marketing companies. Their duties include planning company advertisements, monitoring brand campaigns, revising presentations, and shaping brand standards. Also referred to as a design director

Purpose of Position

The Creative Director oversees and develops the creative output of the creative team. Reporting to the Executive Creative Director of the agency, you will take an integrated communications approach. Having a strong handle on the role of digital and experiential communications is an essential requirement in developing modern creative solutions. You will assist with the daily operations of the team together with the Executive Creative Director and Traffic Head.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

  • Direct, review and influence integrated concept development
  • Generate and pursue innovative ideas
  • Create a collaborative work environment amongst creative, strategic and client service departments
  • Lead the creative development on clients/brands/projects assigned to the creative team
  • Discuss and understand client business objectives and provide strategic creative solutions
  • Inspire and improve the level of integrated creative thinking within the team, and also contribute to raising the creative bar at the agency by working closely with the Executive Creative Director, Strategy Lead and Head of Office
  • Oversee the development of campaigns and prepare detailed, effective presentation of the work
  • Keep abreast of the latest advancement in technologies used in creative direction and understand the progress in marketing technologies
  • Collaborate with agency partners to organize cohesive brand messaging across platforms (with specific importance on Digital)
  • Direct activities for professional development of organizational team members, conducting creative workshops for staff members, implementing corrective strategies, and recommending promotion of team members based on their productivity
  • Make important decisions that ensure the organizational profitability without compromising the creative quality of the project
  • Build productive client relationships to guide the agency and brands in a positive, intelligent direction
  • Protect the agency’s reputation by maintaining a high level of creative output
  • Protect brand properties by ensuring all production meets brand standards and accurately represents brand guidelines
  • Raise the agency profile by challenging the status quo of current work and raising the bar
  • Manage the creative development of work for new business pitches to benefit the growth of the agency
  • Share information, ideas and opinions in a way that contributes to solutions

Requirements & Qualification, Experience / Skill

  • A tertiary qualification is Art Direction / Design
  • At least 10 years’ experience as an Associate Creative Director or Creative Director
  • Familiar with the advertising industry and an understanding of production procedures
  • (advertising agency experience is essential)
  • Proficient in Apple products (i.e. Mac)
  • Knowledge of applicable design, presentation, and word document software (i.e. MS Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • A good command of the English language (both verbal and written)
  • Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • An in-depth knowledge of current platforms and keep abreast of current and evolving trends
