The Methodist Church Ghana invites applications from qualified persons for the positions of: Account Officer (Freeman Methodist Guest House LTD)

Position Description

• The Account Officer shall be in charge of the accounting system and report directly to the Manager
• Prepare Annual Budget and ensure its strict compliance
• Keep good and transparent record of all monies received as well as proper Book of Accounts in computised form
• Arrange the opening of Bank of Accounts for the Guest House.
• Make payments as are duly authorised by the General Manager
• Do pre-auditing of financial transactions and institute internal controls
• Meet all statutory financial obligations, e.g. Payment of Taxes, SSNIT Contributions etc
• Keep petty Cash Book for minor / emergency expenses
• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reviews of the accounts to the Manager
• Prepare and keep an Asset Register (Inventory) under the supervision of the Manager
• Prepare a Financial Statement of the Accounts, annually, showing the exact financial position of the Guest House operations
• Submit the annual financial statement of the accounts to appointed auditors to check all the books and balances and issue a certificate of satisfaction or otherwise, which shall be presented to the Managing Consultants for appropriate action
• Carry out any other jobs which the General Manager may assign from time to time

Qualification Required & Experience

• A good university degree in Accounting
• Part-qualification of a recognized professional accountancy body will be an added advantage
• Post qualification experience in a relevant position will be an advantage
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office application (Word, Access, Excel, Power Point)
• Knowledge and experience in the investment industry would be an advantage
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
• Experience with Tally software is preferred
